Justin Bieber Accused of Cultural Appropriation for Wearing Dreadlocks – E! Online

Justin Bieber is going through accusations of cultural appropriation after he shared photographs of himself sporting dreadlocks.

The singer debuted the look in a picture shared to Instagram on Sunday, April 25. The subsequent day, Justin shared one other photograph of himself in a checkered shirt and a pink pearl necklace.

After Justin shared the photographs, followers voiced disapproval of the coiffure, with one Instagram person writing, “This is not it Justin.” 

Another individual remarked on Twitter, “so @scooterbraun you and your client @justinbieber post BLM for days and talking about being an ally or educating y’all’s selves but turn around to do this foolery very performative i’m sick of y’all.”

Dreads, also referred to as locs, are traditionally worn by members of the Black neighborhood, who’ve confronted discrimination for the coiffure.

And this is not the primary time Justin has been known as out for carrying locs.

In 2016, Justin confronted heavy criticism for carrying his hair in dreadlocks on the iHeartRadio Music Awards. Shortly after, he shaved his hair down to take away the dreads, however not without issuing a statement
